The perfect de-tan skin routine

In a tropical climate like India, tanning is difficult to avoid irrespective of the season. A good sunny day in the tropical heat can cause over-exposure to the sun, which can cause premature ageing, sunburns and severe skin damage. Here is the perfect de-tan solution which will help you get rid of tan this summer.

1. Cleansing

Before you start any skincare routine, cleansing your face thoroughly is very important to get rid of all the surface dirt from your skin. Use a facewash with active ingredients which will help in removing the tan and also the dead skin cells.

2 .Face scrub

This removes the top tan layer of the skin. Because the skin is already damaged by the sun, don’t use something too harsh. Try a home remedy with coffee and honey. Coffee is a great exfoliating agent that helps in getting rid of the inflammation and redness caused by sunburn. Honey helps in fading sun-tan and marks and also in retaining the moisture back into the skin.

Mix a little honey and coffee to make a thick paste and exfoliate your skin in upward circular motion.

3. Face pack

This soothes irritated skin and fades away the tan. Make a paste by mixing multani mitti, sandalwood powder, tomato juice and aloe vera juice. Multani mitti has a brightening effect, sandalwood powder fades away scars and sun-tan, aloe vera has cooling properties and tomato juice improves collagen production in the skin. Apply this paste on your skin and rinse after 15-20 minutes. Use this mask every day before sleeping for best results.

Use a sunscreen with an SPF 40 or more always before going out in the sun to avoid sunburns. Keep yourself hydrated.
